WordPress Database Specialist (Contract – Remote)

We’re looking for a highly skilled WordPress Database Specialist to optimise and enhance the performance of our database. This is a 4-week contract with the potential for extension, offering a great opportunity to make a significant impact on our systems' efficiency, scalability, and reliability.

What You’ll Do
Conduct a comprehensive database audit to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and optimisation opportunities.
Optimise database queries, indexes, and schema design to improve performance and scalability.
Implement best practices for indexing, partitioning, and query execution to reduce load times and enhance system efficiency.
Develop automated archiving strategies to manage database growth and storage efficiency.
Analyse current SiteGround configurations and implement performance tuning adjustments.
Execute database cleanup tasks, such as removing redundant data (e.g., spam, revisions, old transients).
Implement secure and automated backup strategies to prevent data loss.
Document optimisations, changes, and recommendations for future improvements.
Provide guidance and training to internal staff on best practices for ongoing database maintenance.

Who You Are
We’re seeking a database performance expert with:
Proven experience optimising WordPress databases, including MySQL performance tuning.
Strong proficiency in phpMyAdmin and database management on SiteGround hosting.
Advanced SQL skills, including query optimisation, indexing strategies, and stored procedures.
Experience implementing database archiving and maintenance solutions.
Familiarity with WordPress core database structure and common performance challenges.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
