Job Overview:
We are seeking a Civil Estimator with experience in Bulk Earthworks. This role requires an individual with a solid understanding of civil construction, particularly bulk earthworks, and the ability to provide accurate bill of quantities/cost estimates for medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.
This work-from-home position, aligned with Australian timing, demands a minimum of three (3) years of experience, preferably in managing Australian/international clients.
The successful candidate will work closely with project manager, engineers and clients to develop competitive bids and ensure the financial success of the projects.
Key Responsibilities:
? Prepare Detailed Bill of Quantities/Cost Estimates: Analyse project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and detailed bill of quantities and cost estimates for bulk earthworks projects, including excavation, grading, site preparation, and soil management.
? Quantity Take-offs: Perform quantity take-offs of all relevant materials and labor based on the project’s scope, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
? Tender and Bid Preparation: Develop competitive bids for tender submissions by analyzing project risks, estimating materials, labor costs, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
? Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information and ensure accurate project pricing and timelines.
? Cost Analysis: Evaluate historical data, analyse productivity rates, and apply appropriate unit rates to ensure competitive and realistic pricing.
? Risk Management: Identify potential risks in projects and propose mitigating strategies in the estimating process.
? Subcontractor and Supplier Coordination: Request and review quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring alignment with project specifications and cost expectations.
? Project Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of project estimates, revisions, and changes, ensuring all stakeholders are updated with any adjustments.
? Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Keep informed of current trends, material costs, and innovations within the civil construction and bulk earthworks sectors.
? Post-Bid Review: Participate in post-bid reviews and handover meetings to provide insight into estimation accuracy and project planning.
Qualifications and Skills:
? Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management/Quantity Surveying or a related field.
? Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Civil Estimator, with a focus on bulk earthworks.
? Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar).
? Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, methods, and standards, particularly in earthmoving, grading, and site development.
? Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
? Familiarity with local regulations, labor rates, and material costs.
? Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with project teams and clients.
? Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
? Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
? Professional certifications such as AACE, RICS, or PMI are a plus.
? Experience with large-scale infrastructure or commercial projects.
