The successful candidates will report to a US-based firm responsible for full-service tax, accounting, and business advisory.
The US Tax Preparer is responsible for preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and businesses, following US tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the tax code and experience with tax software and other accounting tools.
Responsibilities:
Prepare federal and multi-state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and nonprofit entities
Prepare tax projections and other tax planning engagements
Conduct tax research and prepare memos outlining findings and conclusions
Assist with responses to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices
Engage in consulting and special projects as may be requested by management
Accounting and bookkeeping, as needed, in relation to tax preparation engagements
Complete clients’ tax documentation
Ensure accuracy and detect possible errors
Answer tax- and finance-related questions
Ensure compliance with government tax rules
File and maintain client records and correspondence
Provide customer service to clients
Stay up-to-date on changes in the tax code
Provide personalized service and a high level of professionalism
Qualifications:
Detail oriented and ability to multitask
Excellent time management, accounting, analytical, and organizational skills
Working knowledge of QuickBooks (both desktop and online applications)
Prior experience in public accounting (tax preparation)
Degree in accounting
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
CPA or EA designation (preferred)
Minimum of 2 years experience in US tax preparation
Strong understanding of US tax laws and regulations
Experience with tax software and other accounting tools
Excellent communication and customer service skills
