Key Responsibilities:
Tax Filing & Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and other applicable tax filings. TX and CA.
Tax Compliance Management: Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, including corporate, indirect, and payroll taxes.
Tax Audit & Disputes: Manage responses to tax audits, ensuring the proper collection and organization of supporting documents. Collaborate with external advisors and legal teams to resolve tax disputes when necessary.
Tax Planning & Strategy Support: Assist in tax planning activities by providing compliance insights into the tax implications of business operations, mergers, acquisitions, and other financial strategies.
Research & Analysis: Stay current on changes to tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company’s tax obligations. Provide recommendations for tax savings opportunities and compliance improvements.
Internal Controls & Procedures: Develop and implement tax compliance processes and controls to mitigate risk and ensure efficiency in the filing of tax returns.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other departments such as legal, finance, and accounting to ensure compliance across various functions of the business.
Documentation & Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate tax records and documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. Ensure that all tax-related files are up-to-date and ready for audits or inquiries.
Qualifications:
Willing to work Pacific time
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certifications related to Tax accounting
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably in a corporate environment or public accounting.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, including corporate income tax, indirect taxes (sales, VAT), and payroll taxes in CA and TX.
Knowledge in Quickbooks and other accounting sofware
Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to simplify complex tax issues for non-tax professionals.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
