Structural draftsperson

About GC Civil:
GC Civil design & construct a diverse range of civil structure projects across the East coast of Australia.
Our core projects focus on: noise barrier walls, earth retaining walls and bridges on roads and highways.
We are a close-knit, family owned business, who prides ourselves on projects completed smoothly and to highly satisfied clients. We understand the importance of quality drawings in this, to eliminate mistakes, rework and risk on our projects.

We require an experienced structural draftsperson that is a highly experienced expert in Autodesk Revit 3D and AutoCAD 2D & 3D software, to produce detailed structural design shop drawing packages for commercial and industrial projects.

Drawings we require include:
• Site & layout plans
• Long section elevations
• Typical details
• Detail shopdrawings

You will be working in a small, tight-knit team of 3-4 others, including one other draftsperson, design & pre-construction coordinator, project manager and site manager.

Key responsibilities:
• Attend a daily zoom/teams meeting, in which you present a daily task list and simple KPI report to the team
• Read, understand and document structural designs/specifications prepared by engineers
• Then prepare drawing packages for structural projects using Revit and Auto CAD.
• Maintain a register of drawings for each project, with document revision control
• Issue drawings and documents as directed by Project Manager and Design staff.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a library of standard details and templates, and continually develop our GC Civil ‘Drawing’s Manual’ throughout the course of employment.
• Monitor drafting costs and report progress to the Project Manager

From time to time, the drafting workload may taper off, and during this period, the candidate may also be required to provide virtual remote assistance with:
• Quantity estimation & Take-offs
• Daily administration activities to support sales & estimating teams:
• Preparation of Sales administration documents,
• Preparation of weekly Reporting and meeting agendas,
• Maintain CRM with daily updates and sales lead registration

The successful candidate will be
• Highly experienced with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role involving drafting of structural steel, precast concrete, reinforced concrete elements
• Highly proficient in Revit (3D modelling) – Development of families, and preparation of drawings to specific company style and requirements
• Highly proficient in AutoCAD (2D drafting) – from time to time you will be required to use 2D drafting
• Experience in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D – Experience in the preparation of surface files
• Have a high attention to detail (preventing errors and clashes) and takes ownership + pride in their quality and professionalism of work.
• Produce neat, accurate drawings with flawless consistency of drawing presentation to a set style and requirements, as documented in the GC Civil Drawing Manual.
• Have a ‘get stuff done’ attitude
• Be highly fluent in English speaking & writing
• have a bachelor's degree in Engineering (Structural Engineer is preferred), and be willing to get these skills transferred and recognised in Australia.
• advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, and remote collaboration tools including Teams/Zoom online meeting software.
