Role Overview: We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team, responsible for handling a variety of technical tasks related to mechanical systems in construction projects. The ideal candidate will be involved in heat load calculations, ductwork sizing, and the creation of 2D and 3D layouts for mechanical systems. This role also includes creating detailed schedules and schematics for the mechanical aspects of projects. The position requires someone who is adaptable and willing to work under employee records, which may include tax deductions based on the state.
As part of a dynamic team, you will play a key role in ensuring mechanical systems are effectively integrated into the overall design and construction process. The role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach to working with other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing heat load calculations using CAMEL to optimize HVAC system performance and energy efficiency, conducting ductwork sizing assessments to meet system requirements, and creating accurate 2D/3D mechanical system layouts aligned with project specifications. Additionally, develop schedules and schematics to illustrate system layouts and operation timelines, collaborate with engineers, designers, and construction teams for seamless integration, maintain clear documentation including design reports and schematics, and ensure compliance with industry standards, local building codes, and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Seeking a Licensed Mechanical Engineer with experience in heat load calculations, ductwork sizing, and mechanical system design. The ideal candidate should be proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) for creating 2D and 3D layouts, possess strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles, and be familiar with industry standards and local building codes. Responsibilities include designing and selecting fans and DX systems, creating accurate schematics and schedules, and ensuring compliance with project requirements. Candidates should also have drafting experience with workshop fabrication capability (LOD400), Australian project experience, and expertise in CAMEL heat load calculations. Additionally, the ability to complete static pressure drop calculations (with examples) is required. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to be contracted under an Employer of Record agency hired by the client.
