Job Overview:


We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paralegal with experience in Bankruptcy Law to support our legal team. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in bankruptcy law, with experience preparing and filing bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and related legal documents. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a virtual setting.



Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and draft bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements of financial affairs, means test calculations, and other related legal documents.
File bankruptcy cases electronically via the CM/ECF system for federal courts.
Research bankruptcy laws, regulations, and case precedents.
Communicate with clients to gather necessary financial information and documentation.
Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, meetings of creditors (341 meetings), and other court proceedings.
Review and analyze financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports to determine eligibility for bankruptcy filings.
Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely submission of documents.
Liaise with courts, trustees, creditors, and clients regarding case updates and document requests.
Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documents are properly stored and accessible.
Draft and file motions, objections, reaffirmation agreements, and discharge applications as needed.
Stay up to date on changes in bankruptcy laws and procedures.

Must-Have Qualifications:
3+ years of experience as a bankruptcy paralegal, preferably in a law firm setting.
Strong understanding of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy processes (Chapter 11 experience is a plus).
Proficiency in CM/ECF electronic filing for bankruptcy courts.
Familiarity with bankruptcy software such as Best Case, NextChapter, or CINcompass.
Excellent legal writing and document preparation skills.
Strong knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, court personnel, and trustees.
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial document review.
Strong organizational and time management skills to meet strict deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management software.
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

Experience with Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings.
Familiarity with debt settlement and creditor negotiations.
Knowledge of state-specific bankruptcy exemptions and local court procedures.
Previous experience working in a virtual law firm environment.
Proficiency with case management software such as Clio, MyCase, or PracticePanther.
