JOB OVERVIEW

# CodePath Background

CodePath is a non-profit that helps computer science university students prepare for software internships and full-time jobs after graduation. We do this by offering additional industry skills courses (sometimes for-credit and sometimes not for-credit) that teaches key missing skills. We also provide career services to assist their job search process. The additional courses and career support greatly increases the probability that students will successfully get jobs after graduation.

In 2024, we taught around 10k students from hundreds of universities, mostly online, and we’ll double that number in 2025. In order to run our classes, we hire and train dozens of instructors (usually software developers that are working full-time jobs, but want to teach for fun, and they can be relatively new to teaching). We also hire and train hundreds of teaching assistants (which we call Tech Fellows), who have previously taken our class. To help manage them, we have senior teaching assistants (which we call Tech Fellow Managers).

In order to manage this large number of students and part-time staff, we need strong operational practices, well designed processes, and rigorous documentation. We leverage many tools (Zendesk, Asana, Notion, Zoom) as well as our custom technology platform for attendance, grading, etc.

# Role Background

We’re looking for multiple operations managers to support our delivery of courses and career center services. The current team is the US (program managers and curriculum developers) and in the Philippines (operation managers and graders), and they do a great job running courses.

However, the US team still handles many adhoc operational tasks that we need to offload, but doesn’t quite fit in our existing operational team and their processes. Also, the current operations team generally works during the Philippines timezone.

For this role, we’re looking for operations managers who can do the following:

* Be on call during PST hours for adhoc requests. Requests can consist of things like:

- Investigating a student issue, and coordinating with relevant team members to help resolve
- Facilitating communication or scheduling with students, tech fellows, and instructors
- Drafting emails, documents, or simple graphics
- Light project management

* When there are no adhoc requests, you will work on projects like:

- Updating process documentation
- Auditing curriculum for issues
- Analyzing current student support issues for themes
- Hiring occasional contractors for niche needs (graphics, instructor recruiting, outreach, etc)

This role is an “everything” role that helps to fill in the gaps of our existing team. This role is a good fit for you if you don’t mind plugging in everywhere/anywhere, and are adaptive. Ideally, you are a natural problem solver that enjoys variety and handles ambiguity well.

Our goal is to have amazing and fast support for our students, and we’re looking for service-minded people who can help us deliver that.

# Competencies

- Process-minded. We have a lot to improve with our documentation and onboarding, and overall streamlining, and we need people with a strong intuition for creating and managing process.
- Documentation. We need people who are great at reading and writing documentation, and creating well organized, concise but thorough documentation.
- Technology enthusiast. We try to maximally leverage technology (including AI) to make our systems as efficient as possible. You should be familiar with common technologies (e.g., Google Sheets), and be willing to learn many other tools.
- Great communicator. Given that you may be communicating with students or instructors, you need to be able to mimic our communication style.
- Limited design skills. Bonus if you have some ability to create occasional graphics, to be used in onboarding or training documentation.
