JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant/Financial Anaylyst for our Accounting Practice to support our Senior Accountant and Bookkeeping Team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing financial data, managing accounting tasks,preparing financial reports and tax returns for our range of clients. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work on multiple clients , manage a bookkeeping team and experience in Australian Financial Reporting, GST and Taxation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform complex financial reporting and analysis, including monthly management reports and forecasting.
- Assist Bookkeeping Team with their assigned clients where necessary.
- Prepare general journals for accrued and prepayments.
- Prepare and review end of financial year statements including adjustment journals (as required)
- Prepare DRAFT income tax returns for business clients in Xero Tax (XPM)
- Prepare cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations, and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Handle month-end closing procedures and assist with audit preparations.
- Maintain and update financial records, ensuring compliance with company standards in Australia.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders (clients) to provide insights and recommend financial strategies to drive business performance.
- Use financial management software (e.g., Xero, Xero Tax (XPM), Syft Analytis, Excel) to maintain accurate records and facilitate reporting.

Key Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Taxation and experience with reconciliation, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Proficient in Xero Accounting Software, and MYOB
- Syft Analytics is a plus (not required)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work across a range of clients from different industries
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and independently when needed.
- Experience with managing complex financial processes and projects is a plus.
