Legal Researcher

We're seeking a Legal Researcher who wants to grow to their full potential with our team and Company for years to come. The ideal candidate will have a true passion for research and study, with the talent to apply that passion to becoming an expert in a niche of US consumer law known as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA"). This role involves strong online research skills, the ability to understand complex information, and the capacity to present findings into clear, concise reports and verbal explanations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The TCPA: Becoming an expert of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, its implemented regulations including all of its connected and relevant statutory and administrative components.
2. TCPA Compliance: Becoming an expert in compliance with the TCPA for telemarketing companies.
3. TCPA Analysis: Staying up to date on important TCPA-related cases, new case law, and legislation.
4. TCPA Research: Research and interpret relevant law, official interpretations, and case laws to identify trends in TCPA litigation and settlements. Examine recent class action suits, investigate defendants' legal histories, identify relevant findings, and provide insights and recommendations based on findings.
5. General Research: Conduct thorough research on various topics beyond legal issues as needed. This includes gathering data, analyzing findings, and condensing complex information into simplified reports for easy interpretation and presentation.
Example: Research and provide a comprehensive report on specific topics like local job markets and economic conditions that may support business decision-making.
6. Ongoing Study: Spend time reading articles and listening to podcasts about TCPA updates and important ongoing cases, doing so on a weekly basis.
7. TCPA Training: Provides basic TCPA training for new hires and non-legal departments, as well as in-depth, specialized training for the legal team.
8. Training Needs: Prepare and regularly update training materials and documentation, including recorded sessions and assessments.
9. Documentation: Draft Research Digest reports, Frequent Objections and Rebuttals, and other legal documentation necessary to support litigation and compliance efforts.
10. File Management: Organize and maintain digital case files, ensuring proper labeling, indexing, and storage in accordance with Company protocol.
11. Collaboration: Work with teaUpgrade to see actual infombers to support ongoing cases and legal strategies. This position requires real-time coordination via phone calls, so expect to make and receive calls from the team as part of daily operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be amenable to work 34 hrs per week, during U.S. business hours.
* Shifts are 7 hours Monday to Thursday and 6 hours on Friday (PST/PDT) or 7 hours
Tuesday to Friday and 6 hours on Saturday (PHT).

Shift 2 (Mar-Nov) : Tue-Fri 4 am - 11 am & Sat 4 am - 10 am = 34 hours
Shift 2 (Nov-Mar) : Tue-Fri 5 am - 12 pm & Sat 5 am - 11 am = 34 hours
Please Note: Daylight Savings will affect these hours biannually.
* Juris Doctor (JD) graduate with a strong academic background in law.
* Expert in online research and report writing, with proficiency in using legal databases and interpreting statutes, case law, and regulatory frameworks.
* Strong understanding of legal terminology, principles, and procedures.
* Excellent oral and written English.
* Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
* The ability to handle multiple research projects with accuracy and minimal oversight.
* Personal drive, initiative, and resourcefulness with strong organizational skills within a highly dynamic changing environment.
* Quality noise-canceling USB headset and personal computer to be used for work, with a reliable internet connection and in case of loss of power or internet, a backup plan or location that provides power and internet connection within 60 minutes of an outage.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years of experience as a paralegal or in a similar legal research-focused role.
Familiarity with US law.
Familiarity with Zoho.
