Job Description:
I run a small but growing digital agency focused on Service Area Businesses (SABs). We’re looking for a Google Ads Specialist who can set up new campaigns, optimize existing ones, analyze competitor strategies, and deliver clear reporting. The ideal candidate will understand how to position ads correctly for different types of SAB clients—whether they’re high-end or budget-focused—and ensure the campaigns attract the right customers at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
• Campaign Setup & Optimization
• Create new Google Ads campaigns tailored to Service Area Businesses.
• Continuously optimize ad copy, keywords, and bidding strategies to maximize ROI.
• Competitor Analysis
• Research and analyze competitor ads to identify trends, successful copy, and effective targeting strategies.
• Use competitor insights to refine our own campaign targeting and messaging.
• Audience Targeting & Ad Creation
• Align ad messaging with the client’s positioning (high-end vs. budget) to ensure the right audience sees their ads.
• Implement appropriate targeting methods (location targeting, demographic filters, etc.).
• Landing Page & Quality Score Improvements
• Work with design/content teams (or on your own if you have the skills) to improve landing pages.
• Focus on boosting Quality Score through relevance, loading speed, and user experience.
• Tracking & Conversions
• Set up conversion tracking via Google Tag Manager (GTM).
• Monitor and refine events in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for accurate performance measurement.
• Utilize Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio) to create clear, actionable dashboards.
• Reporting & Insights
• Provide regular reports detailing campaign performance, ad spend, conversions, and ROI.
• Suggest data-driven improvements based on real-time metrics.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
• Proven Google Ads Expertise
• Experience managing budgets, optimizing for cost-per-lead (CPL), and delivering measurable ROI.
• Knowledge of Service Area Businesses
• Familiarity with the nuances of SAB campaigns, such as geo-targeting and service-specific landing pages.
• Technical Skills
• Proficiency with GTM, GA4, and Looker Studio for tracking and reporting.
• Ability to set up and refine custom conversions and events.
• Analytical Mindset
• Comfortable interpreting campaign data and making data-driven decisions.
• Strong understanding of negative keywords, keyword match types, and bid strategies.
• Communication & Collaboration
• Excellent communication skills to explain campaign progress and strategies to clients.
• Willing to collaborate with web designers or content creators to optimize landing pages.
Nice-to-Have (Not Essential)
• Experience with Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads)
• Knowledge of other PPC platforms or paid social
• Basic HTML/CSS skills for quick landing page tweaks
