Graphic Designer

We are seeking a FULL TIME Graphic Designer for our parent company Activate Toronto Ltd. and its subsidiary brands (RENT N STYLE and 1OAK DESIGNS).

Rent N Style - is a balloon decor and party rental company specializing in unique decor, activations and event rentals.

1 OAK Designs - is a print shop that specializes in vinyl printing for events, activations, vehicles and trailers. The shop also offers UV printing and laser etching for acrylic signs which caters to both B2B and B2C.

This individual should be able to dedicate their full day to this role at Activate Toronto and its subsidiaries. The candidate must have a great sense of creativity and design along with excellent knowledge of print prep and colour management skills. Proficiency with Adobe Suite (Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign) is a MUST. The ideal candidate should be comfortable taking on multiple projects and prioritizing work in a fast paced environment.

This job is catered to someone who is very strong in Adobe Illustrator and will be tested to create cutlines, bleeds, prep files, create vectors and more.

Requirements
Must be able to work during Canadian time (EST)
Must keep Activate Toronto and its subsidiaries as PRIORITY
3 years (minimum) of Graphic Design/Production experience.
College degree - Associates Degree or above preferred.
High-Level Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
BONUS: Knowledge of Fusion360, AutoCad, Maya, Corel Draw, Lightroom
BONUS: Working knowledge of pre-press / production ready artwork as well as various printing processes including digital, silk-screen and offset printing.
BONUS: Working knowledge of creating unique shapes for laser cutting
BONUS: Working knowledge of creating files for UV printing with a cross over into laser cutting, working with layers

Strong portfolio supporting a proven knowledge of graphic design and production art for print or web.
Solid track record of accurately estimating and meeting deadlines through excellent time management.
Strong attention to detail, an inherent eye for design, and the ability to multi-task and quality check work.
Solid people skills, ability to work collaboratively or independently in a fast-paced team environment.
Copy proofing and editing.
Ability to communicate well and time management.

Primary Duties And Split Responsibilities

Graphic Design/Production Ready Artwork
- Takes the customer’s high resolution files and creates the digital “proofs” to the customer specifications while maintaining the integrity of the schedule.
- Work off working files from customers (AI, DXF, PDF) and input custom artwork to scale, create bleeds and prepare final files for print
- Customize print ready files for machines like (Mimaki CJV150 - 160, Logojet UV XR90)
- Customize unique designs for laser cutting and layer additional artwork for UV printing
- Prepare print ready files for tailer wraps, vehicles, cart activations and more.
- Customize branding designs for promotional items such as pens, golf balls, t-shits, mugs and more.
- Keep an open mind to creating unique trendy designs within the wedding and special event industry

The optimal candidate must be detail-oriented, have excellent communication and organizational skills and will be expected to keep pace with a heavy, deadline-oriented workload.
