About Smart Step Inc.:

Smart Step Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families through financial literacy, homeownership education, credit improvement, and affordable housing initiatives. We also work to provide donated real estate and vehicles to families in need, creating sustainable pathways to stability and independence.

We are currently seeking experienced Grant Writers to join our team and play a crucial role in securing funding to expand our programs and reach more communities.

Position Overview:

As a Grant Writer at Smart Step Inc., you will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting compelling grant proposals to government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources. Your work will directly support our mission of providing life-changing resources to families in need.

Key Responsibilities:

Research grant opportunities aligned with Smart Step Inc.’s mission and programs.
Prepare and submit well-written, persuasive grant proposals, applications, and supporting documents.
Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and ensure timely submissions.
Collaborate with the leadership team to gather relevant data, program details, and financial information for proposals.
Develop and maintain relationships with potential funders, including foundations and corporate partners.
Track grant application statuses, follow up as necessary, and report outcomes to leadership.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in grant writing with a strong track record of securing funding.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Familiarity with nonprofit operations, financial documents, and impact reporting.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Strong research skills to identify and evaluate funding opportunities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and grant submission platforms.

Compensation:

This is a freelance/part-time role with compensation based on a competitive per-grant or performance-based structure. Additional bonuses may be provided for successfully secured grants.
