About Desert Rundown:

Desert Rundown will be a new, must-read local newsletter covering the best of Scottsdale and Phoenix (Arizona, USA). We will publish three times a week, bringing our readers the latest on local events, restaurants, things to do, and news that matters.
About the Role:

We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented full-time writer to lead content creation for Desert Rundown. Your job will be to craft engaging, informative, and fun newsletters that keep our audience in the know. You’ll be responsible for curating and writing about everything happening in the area—from new restaurant openings and hidden gems to weekend event guides and local news highlights.

Responsibilities:
• Write and publish Desert Rundown three times per week.
• Research and curate local events, activities, restaurants, and news.
• Develop a consistent and engaging voice that resonates with our audience.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and happenings in Scottsdale and Phoenix.
• Optimize content for readability, engagement, and click-through rates.
• Collaborate with the team on content strategy and audience growth.
• Manage and format email campaigns in ConvertKit (experience preferred).
• Monitor audience feedback and engagement to refine content strategies.
• Post relevant events, etc. to Facebook account

Qualifications:
• Proven experience in writing, newsletters, journalism, or content creation (preferred if local-focused newsletter experience).
• Strong knowledge of the Scottsdale/Phoenix area, or willingness to become an expert.
• Excellent writing and editing skills with a knack for storytelling.
• Ability to balance informative and entertaining content.
• Familiarity with email platforms (ConvertKit experience is a plus). We need to create a simple email format.
• Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines.
• Passion for local culture, events, and community engagement.
