JOB OVERVIEW

A Louisiana-based law firm that specializes in personal injury and criminal defense law is seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, and hardworking full-time virtual legal assistant to join its team!

This job requires an applicant that is comfortable making professional phone calls to clients, law offices, courthouses, insurance companies, and doctor’s offices on a regular basis. The applicant should be very confident with their English accent, empathetic, and willing to make calls during United States business hours. Along with calls, the applicant should be quick and efficient with email and letter drafting using Microsoft Word/365. The ideal applicant is organized, proactive, and detail oriented.

The law firm’s clients primarily include car aUpgrade to see actual info victims and individuals accused of committing crimes (criminal defendants).

Responsibilities:
- Call personal injury clients to ask them about treatment and injuries
- Order and follow up on medical records and bills
- Draft settlement demand letters
- Draft motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence
- Enter case-specific data from an intake sheet, police report, medical record, etc. into Case Management Software (e.g., CasePEER, Clio)
- Call insurance companies to setup insurance claims and assist with negotiating settlements
- Post weekly updates on the firm’s Google My Business page
- Assist with drafting SOPs (standard operating procedure) and Systems & Processes
- Prepare medical records summaries and litigation case timelines
- Follow case checklists and SOPs
- Keep track of attorney billing hours in Microsoft Excel
- Investigate the “whereabouts” of absent defendants through social media and Google searches
- Update law firm client lists for CRM (customer relationship management)
- Call clients to answer “discovery” questions, and assist attorney with answering discovery questions
- Act as a Case Manager over all cases to make sure tasks are completed and deadlines met
- Manage and filter through the Attorney’s email inbox
- Manage and add entries to law firm Google Calendar
- Call courthouses to confirm filing costs and court dates, and “check service” of pleadings on parties involved in cases
- Correspond with other law firms, paralegals, attorneys, court reporters, and interpreters to schedule deposition dates

Skills and Requirements:
- Personable, outgoing, and an excellent communicator
- Comfortable making frequent phone calls
- Strong English accent and grasp of English language
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Slack, Google Workspace
- Strong internet connection and ability to make phone calls to businesses and clients in the US Central Time Zone with use of service like Ring Central
- Willing to be flexible and work during US business hours if needed
- Must have experience working within a law firm
- Meet with lead attorney at least one time per week via Zoom/video call

How much time?
- Full time (6 to 8 hours per day)

Pay:
- $8/hour
- 1 Month Trial Period ($7.00 per hour during trial period) to make sure it's the right fit
- Quarterly bonus (based on 13th Month pay)
