Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the transportation process by locating shippers, negotiating with carriers, organizing freight loads, ensuring proper documentation is processed, and overseeing timely and compliant delivery of goods. This position requires strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Shipper Acquisition & Management
• Identify and establish relationships with potential shippers to secure freight contracts.
• Negotiate competitive rates and service agreements.
• Maintain ongoing communication to address shipper needs and resolve issues.
2. Carrier Sourcing & Coordination
• Build and maintain a reliable network of carriers to transport freight.
• Negotiate rates with carriers to maximize profitability.
• Match available loads with appropriate carriers based on capacity, timing, and cost.
3. Load Organization
• Plan and schedule shipments to ensure timely pickup and delivery.
• Organize freight loads based on customer requirements and compliance standards.
• Optimize transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
4. Documentation & Compliance
• Ensure all required documentation, such as bills of lading, contracts, and permits, is completed and filed accurately.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Address and resolve compliance issues as they arise.
5. Delivery Oversight
• Track shipments from pickup to delivery, providing updates to shippers and carriers as needed.
• Resolve any delays, damages, or issues that occur during transit.
• Confirm delivery completion and ensure accurate invoicing for services rendered.
Qualifications (NOTE- If you do not have the experience, please provide description as to how your current skills can fulfill the job description.):
• Some proven experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or a related field.
•. Ability to cold/warm call
• Knowledge of freight boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop).
• Ability to research potential shippers and carriers online, through directories, or industry networks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace for reporting and follow-ups.
• Strong knowledge of freight transportation regulations and industry best practices.
• Active listening to understand the needs of shippers and carriers.
• Confident and persuasive in cold-calling scenarios; ability to negotiate rates and terms effectively.
• Strong relationship-building abilities to foster trust and loyalty.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills; Professionalism and patience when dealing with hesitant or busy
• Proficiency in logistics software and transportation management systems (TMS).
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in a freight broker agent role or similar capacity.
• A valid Freight Broker License or certification.
• Familiarity with freight markets and carrier networks.

• Find Shippers After Ensuring they are Qualified
• Vett Shippers to Ensure they are Qualified Shippers
• Preplan to ensure there is a load leaving your original load’s destination
• Negotiate with Shipper
• Determine Load Requirements and Fees
• Provide Luna N17’s W-9 and/or Authority if Shipper asks for it
• Have Shipper Sign the Proposal
• Have Shipper agree to a deposit (can explain to shipper how this gives some sort of security to the carrier who could possibly waste time traveling to their destination)
• Have Shipper Sign the Broker/Shipper Agreement (If first time doing business, provide the bond and authority (#1)
• Discuss shipper providing payment upon 15 days of receiving invoice (#5) (THIS IS HOW WE GET PAID)
• Discuss a service charge of 3% being applied for each invoice for each fifteen (15) day period (or 36% annually) of freight invoice if not paid within the above schedule (The actual rate should be negotiated on the load rate confirmation )
• Have Shipper Sign Rate Quote
• Find Carriers After Ensuring they are Qualified
• Vett the Carrier to Ensure that they are Qualified Business
• Make sure the carrier has the proper 1) Insurance, 2) Certification and 3) Training, 4)Past Performance
• If necessary, further Negotiate the Price based on the Carrier’s Requirements
• Carrier provides a SIGNED Carrier Agreement to us (the freight brokerage)
• Make sure all documents are signed.
• If necessary, Monitor any Restricted Driving Routes, especially when transporting any Hazardous Materials
• Send documents to the Shipper
• Luna N17 Invoice
• Carrier’s Invoice
• Carrier’s Receipts
• Copy of Signed BOL
• Tender
