Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator - Quantity Surveyor to develop project estimates and manage procurement. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise to produce accurate, competitive estimates while managing materials and vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze construction documents, specifications, and bid requirements to produce detailed cost estimates
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to define project parameters and requirements
Monitor market conditions, material costs, and subcontractor availability to maintain competitive pricing
Implement risk management strategies in estimates to protect project profitability
Establish and maintain relationships with key subcontractors and vendors
Develop comprehensive estimates from project conception through final proposal
Participate in bid strategy meetings and present proposals to clients
Track and analyze material costs, lead times, and market trends
Manage the full procurement cycle from estimation to installation, including:
Creating detailed material takeoffs and specifications
Soliciting and analyzing vendor quotes
Placing and tracking purchase orders
Coordinating delivery schedules
Ensuring quality control of delivered materials
Coordinate with operations teams to ensure smooth project execution
Monitor project performance against estimates to improve future accuracy
Key Skills and Qualifications:
3+ years of construction estimating experience
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
Proven track record of successful project estimates and wins
Demonstrated experience managing full procurement cycles
Experience with construction estimating software (Procore, PlanSwift, Bluebeam)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (required)
Knowledge of local building codes and construction regulations
