Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator Manager to lead our estimating department and drive excellence in project proposals. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership abilities to mentor a team while ensuring accurate, competitive estimates that win business and set projects up for success.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop the estimating team through mentorship, training, and establishing best practices
Review and approve project scopes, budgets, and final estimates
Analyze construction documents, specifications, and bid requirements to produce detailed cost estimates
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to define project parameters and requirements
Monitor market conditions, material costs, and subcontractor availability to maintain competitive pricing
Implement risk management strategies in estimates to protect project profitability
Establish and maintain relationships with key subcontractors and vendors
Review and validate team estimates for accuracy and completeness
Participate in bid strategy meetings and present proposals to clients
Develop and maintain estimation standards and procedures
Monitor project performance against estimates to improve future accuracy
Follow purchasing through from estimate, to order, to delivery, to installation
Coordinate with operations teams to ensure smooth handoff of awarded projects
Key Skills and Qualifications:
7-10 years of construction estimating experience
3+ years of team leadership experience
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
Ability to take estimates from beginning to end from from estimate, to order, to delivery, to installation
Proven track record of successful project estimates and wins
Experience with construction estimating software (Procore, PlanSwift, Bluebeam)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (required)
Knowledge of local building codes and construction regulations
