We are a fast-growing LA-based Advertising company in need of an experienced Director of Data who can start asap.
The Director of Data at an advertising agency is responsible for leading data strategy, analytics, and insights to optimize marketing performance and business decisions. This role involves managing data-driven initiatives, overseeing data teams, and ensuring the effective collection, analysis, and application of data to drive advertising success. The Director of Data collaborates with creative, media, and account teams to enhance campaign effectiveness and improve client ROI.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Leadership:
Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with agency goals and client needs.
Lead the data analytics, engineering, and insights teams to drive data-informed decision-making.
Oversee data governance, compliance, and security best practices.
Analytics & Insights:
Analyze campaign performance, audience insights, and customer behavior to optimize marketing efforts.
Develop predictive models and machine learning solutions to enhance targeting and personalization.
Provide real-time and historical data-driven insights to improve media efficiency and creative impact.

Technology & Infrastructure:
Oversee data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration across various platforms.
Identify and implement advanced data tools, such as AI-driven analytics and automated reporting.
Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to ensure seamless data flows and infrastructure scalability.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with creative, media, and client teams to align data insights with advertising strategies.
Present findings and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and clients.
Educate teams on best practices for leveraging data in decision-making.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Marketing Analytics, Business, or related fields.
- 7+ years of experience in data analytics, marketing science, or a related role, preferably within an advertising or media agency.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data analysis and modeling.
- Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Snowflake, etc.).
- Familiarity with marketing attribution models, customer segmentation, and A/B testing.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills for presenting data insights.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with creative, media, and business teams.
