Commissions Data Analysis

Company Description: Our company focuses on helping our customers with their Telecom needs from ordering new services, helping them get installed, to checking their bills to make sure they are billing correctly and overall the entire telecom lifecycle through tech support and throughout their contract. On the back end, we are in need of a data analyst to help us separate commission items, search for items that didn’t pay, but that we sold and be able to check to make sure we got paid correctly.

Skills, Qualifications, Duties and Responsibilities
1. Multitasking- You must be able to track your time and how quickly you are finishing a task. A good majority of our jobs are time in the sense that they have monthly deadlines that MUST be kept. You have to have a good understanding of your priorities, deadlines, time commitment for each task and how to manage that on your own, but be able to work with your team at all time to make sure the team’s overall goals are met.
2. Excel wizard – This person must be able to think of processes in a linear way. You must be able to think logically and study data in thousands of lines in a spreadsheet. You must be able to use VLookup (or Xlookup), know how to use pivot tables, and Record actions and run a macro.
a. We use functions like “Remove Duplicates”, “Text to columns”, filters, sorting, “If then functions”, understanding of formulas and nested formulas and more. A potential candidate that
b. We use all of these things to be able to complete commissions.
3. We keep a log of sales, and we keep a log of old commissions paid to us. You will be taught to review each line item of a new commission report and compare it to each of the old sets of sales and old commissions. The user will need to be able to use multiple excel functions to return data into the current commissions sheet to be able to tell if each commission line item has ever paid already before, is it paying correctly based on a given set of rules, etc.
4. Data Tracking– you must have a mind that can keep track of the different sets of data that you are working with, where to pull data from, and what you need to do with it. Every line item of data tells a story. You must be able to track what is getting paid on currently and make sure the story with that line item matches with a previous sale and you must always check it with previous sales for that line (cell phone/account number) to make sure it hasn’t ever paid for that type of sale before.
5. If there are any macros that you can record that help expedite this process, that is always helpful.
6. You must also be able to take the spreadsheet of self-recorded sales and compare it against commissions that have paid already to create a listing of sales that haven’t paid thus far. We only have 90 days to send in a commission inquiry on a sale that hasn’t paid. So, every month we need to be tracking previous sales that still haven’t been paid to us and submit an inquiry to AT&T on anything that hasn’t paid to us or for anything that paid incorrectly. This person must be able to clearly understand the issue and communicate that clearly in English in a commission ticket and the follow that ticket all the way through till when we get paid the missing commissions.
7. Qualities of a Good Candidate –
a. This person must be curious enough to ask questions about how or why things make sense or don’t make sense,
b. This must have logical reasoning skills,
c. This person must be mathematically strong and you must be able to tell a story with multiple different data sets.
d. This person must pay attention to details.
e. They must be able to communicate with the team and be a team player.
f. This person must be able to follow through with a job, even if the job may take a few months to complete. Must have good follow through!!!
