Cloud Engineer

Nautical Staffing is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Remote Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and disaster recovery. This role involves maintaining systems and supporting US-based clients during Pacific Time Zone hours. The position primarily focuses on system management with some customer support responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design and Implementation:
- Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement cloud infrastructure systems that meet business requirements.
- Configure server hardware, virtualization setups, networks, and system integration using VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vCloud Director).
- Ensure systems are optimized for high performance, availability, and disaster recovery.

Infrastructure Management::
- Deploy and manage virtualized environments, including configuring hypervisors, storage, and network resources.
- Monitor and analyze system performance metrics to optimize resource usage.
- Implement best practices for backups and disaster recovery to protect data and ensure business continuity.
- To provide support with the 100% System uptime operations to ensure high quality of service for customers and system alike.

Customer Support:
- Provide remote support for US-based customers, particularly for databases and systems offered by the company..
- Work with clients to troubleshoot technical issues and deliver professional services as required by sales-driven projects.


Technology Evaluation and Collaboration:
- Participate in evaluating and implementing new technologies, systems, and processes to improve the infrastructure.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.


Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Linux or Windows Systems Engineer/Administrator.
- 2+ years of experience managing cloud systems using VMware technologies.
- 3+ years of experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field is a plus
- Willing to work full-time during US Business hours (PST)
- The Role may entail some On-call responsibilities
- Experience with Citrix VDI for virtual desktop environments is good to have.
- Familiarity with storage technologies such as iSCSI, NFS, and handling large-scale data migrations.
- Knowledge of networking, firewall policies, DNS, and Active Directory/LDAP administration.
- Hands-on experience with applications like SQL, MySQL, IIS, Apache, and automation tools.
