Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Engineer to support the design and optimization of our handheld power tool lineup. This part-time position (with the possibility of transitioning to full-time) is perfect for someone with a passion for mechanical design, product development, and data-driven decision-making in engineering.

Mission for the Role
Your primary mission will be to enhance HighTechCOM’s handheld power tool designs by developing and refining 3D models, performing structural and ergonomic analyses, and optimizing products for manufacturability. You will work closely with our engineering team to ensure our tools deliver top performance and reliability. As part of your application, you will provide an optimized CAD model or technical concept illustrating your approach to product design.

Reduce product defect rates by 20% per year through CAD-driven design improvements and testing.
Shorten Development Cycles
Achieve faster time-to-market by streamlining the CAD design process and implementing design changes swiftly and accurately.
Enhance Ergonomics
Incorporate user-centered design principles, improving comfort and overall user experience in at least three new product designs per year.
Optimize Cost & Efficiency
Implement design strategies that cut production costs by 15% while maintaining or improving performance standards.
Drive Continuous Innovation
Propose at least three actionable improvements or new design concepts each quarter based on emerging technologies and market research.
Maintain Compliance & Quality
Ensure 100% adherence to relevant safety standards and certifications with zero unresolved compliance issues each quarter.
Role-Specific Skills
CAD Modeling & Drafting: Proficiency in creating and maintaining complex 3D models, technical drawings, and assemblies (using software like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360).
Mechanical Design Principles: Strong grasp of material properties (metals, plastics), manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC machining), and product testing.
Analytical Skills: Capability to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or other simulations to validate and optimize tool designs.
Ergonomics & Safety: Experience in integrating ergonomic considerations and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and quality control teams, as well as clearly document and present technical findings.
Continuous Improvement: Keen eye for identifying opportunities to refine product designs, processes, and cost structures.

This position can be arranged either as a freelance or employment role, with flexible working hours.
Potential to increase workload and transition into a full-time role based on performance and project needs.
