Bookkeeper / Accountant - eCommerce & Inventory Management

We’re imPASTA (beimpasta.com) and Root’d (rootd.com) – two amazing US-based consumer brands on a mission to bring eco-friendly wellness to consumer goods! We’re on the hunt for a meticulous Part-Time Bookkeeper to keep our financial systems organized and running smoothly. This role will support the team with financial management tasks, inventory reconciliation, and sales tax filings.

Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper for approximately 10-20 hours per week (potential for more as we grow as a startup). The ideal candidate has experience managing QuickBooks Online (QBO) in an inventory-based DTC business and a strong understanding of sales tax filings, particularly using systems like Nexus/Altura TrustFile. The role requires someone with excellent organization skills who can ensure financial accuracy and reliability as we scale.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily and monthly bookkeeping tasks, including data entry and reconciliation in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Track and reconcile inventory transactions across platforms, ensuring accuracy in COGS reporting.
• File and manage sales taxes in accordance with applicable state regulations using tools such as Nexus/Altura TrustFile.
• Monitor and reconcile payments, refunds, and order transactions from our DTC website and Amazon.
• Assist with month-end closing processes and financial audits, as needed.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records quickly and efficiently.
• Maintain organized digital records for easy reporting and tax preparation.

Required Skills/Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a bookkeeper, particularly in an inventory-based business.
• Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Knowledge of Nexus/Altura TrustFile or similar tools for sales tax compliance and filings.
• Familiarity with DTC financial workflows, including eCommerce transactions and refunds.
• Strong understanding of inventory management and cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) reconciliation.
• Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage priorities autonomously.
• Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for reporting and analysis.
• Reliable internet connection and ability to communicate via email and video calls effectively.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
• Experience working with eCommerce businesses (Shopify, Amazon, etc.).
• Familiarity with Stripe, PayPal, and other payment gateways.
• Basic understanding of financial KPIs for growing DTC businesses.
• Prior experience with financial reporting for startups or small businesses.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports directly to the CEO and will collaborate with operations, inventory, and sales teams to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
