Audio Visual Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and creative Audio Video (AV) Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing innovative AV systems that deliver exceptional user experiences for various environments such as corporate offices, performance venues, houses of worship, and commercial facilities. You will collaborate closely with project managers, sales teams, and installation technicians to create integrated solutions that meet client specifications, expectations, and industry standards.

As an AV Design Engineer, you will be a key part of the design process, from concept development to project completion, ensuring high-quality and efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design & Planning

-Design and engineer comprehensive AV solutions that integrate audio, video, lighting, and control systems for a wide range of applications, including corporate, educational, and entertainment venues.
-Create detailed technical drawings, schematics, and system diagrams using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools).
-Develop accurate bill of materials (BOM), system specifications, and integration designs.
-Select appropriate hardware and equipment, including AV components, cabling, speakers, amplifiers, video displays, control systems, and network infrastructure.
-Client Consultation & Collaboration

-Work with clients and stakeholders to understand their specific AV needs, budget, and timeline.
-Conduct remote site surveys, assess space requirements, and ensure the design meets the acoustic, visual, and technical needs of the project.
-Collaborate with architects, consultants, and other contractors to ensure the AV system integrates seamlessly into the overall design.

Project Coordination & Support

-Remotely support the installation teams by providing design specifications, system drawings, and technical support during the installation process.
-Work closely with project managers to meet project milestones and deadlines.
-Remotely oversee system testing, calibration, and commissioning to ensure optimal performance.

Research & Development

-Stay up to date with the latest AV technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
-Explore new technologies and solutions to improve system design and efficiency.
-Participate in training sessions, attend industry events, and keep certifications current as needed.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

-Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in the AV industry.
-Minimum 3-5 years of experience in AV system design and integration, preferably for commercial or large-scale environments.
-Proven expertise in designing and implementing complex AV solutions, including audio, video, lighting, and control systems.
Technical Skills:

-Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software to create system diagrams and technical drawings.
-In-depth knowledge of AV signal flow, networking, acoustics, and system integration for Performance venues as well as Corporate needs.
-Familiarity with AV technologies and equipment from brands like Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp, Shure, Bose, JBL, d&b, L- Acoustics, ETC, Ross, Sony Broadcast, and others.
-Experience with DSP programming, control system programming (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Extron), and system commissioning.
-Understanding of acoustics, video resolution, and I.T. network infrastructure for AV systems.

Soft Skills:

-Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients and team members.
-Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
-Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
-Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Certifications (Preferred):

-CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or equivalent industry certifications are a plus.
-Certifications from Crestron, Biamp, Dante, Q-SYS or other AV manufacturers are highly desirable.
