JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Accounting Director to lead and manage our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management, exceptional leadership abilities, and strong supervisory skills. This role is responsible for overseeing the entire accounting department, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company’s long-term goals.

As Accounting Director, you will manage day-to-day financial activities, ensure accuracy in financial reporting, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes. This is a remote role with working hours from 8 AM to 4 PM EST.

Qualifications:
1. Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
2. Must be Expert with accounting software (AppFolio Property Management and QuickBooks preferred, and/or Camspot) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
3. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role
4. Strong supervisory and leadership skills, with a track record of successfully managing and developing accounting teams
5. Ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights to senior management
6. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance requirements
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
8. High level of attention to detail and organizational skills
9. Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a remote setting
10. Experience with Monday.com, Slack, and other project management tools is a plus

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct the company’s accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, ensuring the team’s growth and development through effective supervision and guidance
- Ensure timely preparation of accurate financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies
- Ensure the accuracy of financial data and systems, driving process improvements for efficiency and compliance
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and policies to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, highlighting key financial metrics and insights
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to accounting and finance
- Review Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Monthly Book Closing
- Clean up Financial Records
- Manage Payroll (Gusto) and File U.S. Taxes (Franchise Tax, Sales Tax)

Compensation:
Starting rate at $1,700 per month, depending on experience
