POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant with expertise in Canadian accounting and experience in preparing T1 and T2 tax filings. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full cycle of individual and corporate tax filings, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax regulations, and providing timely and accurate tax return preparation for clients. You will work closely with both individuals and businesses to ensure they meet their tax obligations while optimizing their financial outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and file T1 personal tax returns and T2 corporate tax returns for Canadian clients.
- Review financial records and ensure proper documentation and compliance with Canadian tax laws.
- Provide clients with advice on tax planning, deductions, and credits to minimize tax liabilities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in Canadian tax regulations and adjust filings accordingly.
- Assist clients with responding to tax notices, audits, and any other tax-related inquiries.
- Ensure all tax returns are submitted in a timely manner to avoid penalties and interest.
- Sales Tax Filings: Calculate and file sales tax returns in compliance with federal and state/provincial regulations.
- Assist with Year-End Procedures: Support the finance team in preparing documentation for annual audits and tax filings.
EDUCATION
Associate’s/Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a minimum 6 months of proven experience in T1 and T2 tax preparation and filling for Canadian clients
- Strong knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to communicate complex tax information clearly to clients.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks is a MUST
- Experience with Real Estate (Canadian Real Estate, much better!) preferred but not required
- Must be available to work in Toronto-EST time zone
- Familiarity with Lonewolf is a plus
- Attention to Detail: Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and produce insightful reports.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with vendors, clients, and tea
- Understanding of Compliance: Familiarity with tax and regulatory compliance requirements for accurate record-keeping.
