As a customer care specialist I've learned a lot of things. I was able to apply and improve my soft skills. Patience, affable, positive attitude, computer skills , willingness and ability to learn. Aside from this, I learned more skills that I'm sure will improve not just my personality and of course to impress my customers and my clients.
Product knowledge - Deep knowledge of how my companies’ products work. After all, without knowing the product from front to back, I wont be able help my customers when they run into problems. I also make sure that I read all the updates before providing information to my customer.
Documentation skills - To make sure that every contacts / conversation with the clients are completely notated.
Listening skills - This is very important especially I am working as a customer care specialist. The first two minutes of the call is the very crucial and no matter how the issue is complicated by me listening to the customer I will make sure that by the end of the call, issue is resolved and make my customer happy.
Time management skills - I learned to be more patience and spend a little extra time with my customers to understand their problems and needs. Yes, there is a limit to the amount of time I can dedicate to each customer, but I make sure that with the small talk I made I was able to understand the customers want and needs.
Ability to read customers - I won’t be able to see my customers face-to-face, and in many instances I won’t even hear them with a happy voice. But that doesn’t exempt me from helping and listening to them and being able to read their current emotional state.
Closing ability - Being able to close the conversation with confirmed customer satisfaction (or as close to it as I can achieve) and with the customer feeling that everything has been taken care of (or will be). Getting booted before all of their problems have been addressed is the last thing that customers want, so I make sure to take the time they confirm that each and every issue they had was entirely resolved.
